The Confucius Institute at TAMCC Holds “10th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition”

From November 3 to 12, the Confucius Institute at T.A. Marryshow Community College (TAMCC) organized the “10th Anniversary Achievement Exhibition” at its primary and secondary partner schools, introducing students to the Institute’s ten-year development, signature programs, and major accomplishments. On November 13, the Institute further hosted a centralized exhibition in its office and activity room, presenting a comprehensive display of its decade-long achievements and educational highlights. The Chinese Resident Director Dr. Jiang Fan, Grenada Director Mr. David Ambrose, together with teachers and students, attended the events to celebrate this important milestone and witness the Institute’s decade of progress.

The program opened under the warm hosting of Zhang Xiaoying. Director Jiang Fan delivered a welcome speech, reviewing the Confucius Institute’s ten-year journey. This was followed by a PPT presentation illustrating the Institute’s development path, vividly showcasing its achievements in Chinese language instruction, cultural activities, and student–teacher exchanges. A short video session then offered the audience a more immersive experience: the Kung Fu Night documentary revisited the dynamic martial-arts cultural event, highlighting the impressive presence of Grenadian students; the Ten Years of the Confucius Institute commemorative video narrated touching stories of education and cultural exchange through precious archival footage.

Next came an engaging quiz session designed by teacher Niu Wei, featuring fun questions about the Institute’s history and Chinese cultural knowledge. Students participated enthusiastically, and those who answered correctly received thoughtfully prepared gifts. Led by Ms. Niu, all attendees joyfully read aloud in Chinese, “Happy 10th Birthday to the Confucius Institute,” filling the activity room with heartfelt blessings. The carefully arranged photo wall documented memorable moments from the Institute’s history: from the early days in 2015, to the highlights of annual “Chinese Bridge” competitions, Lunar New Year celebrations, and a variety of cultural activities—each photo capturing a step in the Institute’s remarkable growth.

In his remarks, Grenadian Director David Ambrose noted that over the past decade the Confucius Institute has become not only an important window for internationalization at TAMCC but also a key platform for Grenadians to learn Chinese language and culture. From the challenges of its early establishment to the flourishing development seen today, the Institute has trained numerous local talents proficient in Chinese and familiar with Chinese culture. Through sustained cultural exchange programs, it has built a bridge of mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Grenada. He emphasized that “ten years to grow trees, a hundred years to cultivate people,” expressing pride in the achievements and strong confidence in the Institute’s future development. With dedication and innovation, the Confucius Institute has composed a moving chapter of educational and cultural exchange along the shores of the Caribbean.

The event concluded with a group photo to commemorate the occasion, followed by a free exhibition tour where guests and students engaged in further discussions on Chinese learning and the future development of the Institute. This exhibition was not only a heartfelt review of the past ten years but also a new starting point for the journey ahead. Looking to the future, the Confucius Institute at TAMCC will continue to uphold its educational mission, innovate its teaching model, and deepen collaborative efforts to contribute to China–Grenada friendship and mutual learning between civilizations. Standing at a new historical starting line, the Institute is poised to write an even brighter chapter in people-to-people exchanges between China and Grenada.
