The 10th Meeting of the OECS Council of Ministers: Education was convened in the Commonwealth of Dominica from September 25–26, 2025, bringing together Ministers of Education and senior officials from across the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Guided by the OECS Education Sector Strategy (OESS) 2012–2026, the meeting focused on advancing a harmonised regional education agenda that promotes equity, innovation, and resilience. Discussions centred on modernising the primary school curriculum, enhancing early childhood education, deepening inclusive education practices, and equipping learners with “future-ready” skills essential for a rapidly evolving global environment.
A central theme of the meeting was the acceleration of the region’s digital learning ecosystem, with emphasis on improving connectivity, integrating digital content into classrooms, and strengthening teacher capacity for technology-enabled instruction. Ministers also explored opportunities for strategic collaboration with development partners to support resource mobilisation and knowledge sharing across member states. Hosted under the chairmanship of Dominica’s Minister for Education, Octavia Alfred, the meeting reaffirmed the OECS’s collective commitment to building an adaptable, inclusive, and high-quality education system that empowers all learners to thrive in the 21st century.
