Campus Nurse at the Tanteen Campus

The T. A. Marryshow Community College invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the post of Campus Nurse at the Tanteen Campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. In consultation and coordination with a team of health care professionals (to be chosen by the Director of Student Affairs in consultation with the Senior Management Team) to assess, plan, implement and evaluate an Emergency Health Care Protocol for the College;
  2. To ensure that the sick bay has the full complement of supplies and equipment in proper working condition to implement the procedures as outlined in the Emergency Health Care Protocol of the College;
  3. To be the first responder to diagnose and treat minor illnesses and injuries sustained by staff and students of the College in accordance with the Emergency Health Care Protocol of the College;
  4. In the event of major illnesses requiring emergency care at the General Hospital, to monitor, record vital signs and symptoms and provide a report of same to the relevant personnel in accordance with the Emergency Health Care Protocol of the College;
  5. To accompany patients to the hospital during emergencies;
  6. Prepare patients for and assist with examinations and treatments in accordance with the Emergency Health Care Protocol of the College;
  7. To plan and implement an educational program to assist staff and students in managing chronic non-communicable diseases inter alia sickle cell anaemia, migraines, diabetes, asthma and hypertension; 
  8. To plan and implement an educational program to actively promote a culture of occupational safety and health in the operation of the College;
  9. To perform any other related duties as may be assigned from time to time.

EDUCATIONAL & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A duly Registered Nurse.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques;
    • Ability to assess condition and needs of patients;
    • Ability to take appropriate intervention;
    • Knowledge of health promotion and disease prevention;
    • Ability to manage health care resources;
    • Knowledge of nutrition and diet therapy;
    • Ability to assist in the development, organization, and implementation of an effective Emergency Health Care Protocol for the College;
    • Ability to provide education and training;
    • Ability to counsel, teach and to provide direction or guidance;
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
    • Ability to work in a courteous and collaborative manner with diverse stakeholders
