On July 7th, the Confucius Institute at T.A. Marryshow Community College held a grand opening ceremony for its 2025 Summer Camp. This year’s camp has attracted 14 Grenadian youths with a strong interest in Chinese culture. The two-week program officially kicked off, offering a diverse array of immersive cultural experiences. The camp aims to provide students with an engaging platform to explore the Chinese language and culture. The curriculum is designed to be both educational and entertaining, covering areas such as basic Chinese, martial arts, songs, dance, calligraphy, paper cutting, and traditional Chinese medicine, helping participants gain a deeper understanding of China and experience the unique charm of Chinese culture.



The opening ceremony was hosted by Miss Zhang Xiaoying. Mr. Ambrose, Grenadian Director of the Confucius Institute, delivered the first speech. He warmly welcomed the students, thanked the parents for their support, and wished the summer camp a complete success. Following this, a highlight video from the 2024 Summer Camp was shown, sparking excitement and anticipation among the participants. Miss Wang Ruojing from the Confucius Institute then gave a detailed introduction to this year’s curriculum, the wide variety of activities, and the teaching staff, providing both students and parents with a clearer picture of what to expect in the coming days.
A special session was also set aside for the campers to introduce themselves. One by one, the 14 students from different schools gave brief self-introductions with
confidence and poise, receiving rounds of applause from the audience. This moment marked a promising beginning for cultural exchange and friendship.
Finally, Dr. Fan Jiang, Resident Director of the Confucius Institute, gave a heartfelt speech filled with encouragement and expectations. He stated: “The summer camp at the Confucius Institute is not only a camp of culture, but also a camp of friendship and love.” He urged the students to cherish this valuable learning opportunity, to actively immerse themselves in Chinese culture, and to learn with joy while growing through exploration.
Amid warm applause, Miss Zhang Xiaoying officially announced: “The 2025 Summer Camp at the Confucius Institute at T.A. Marryshow Community College is now open!” With great anticipation, the students are ready to embark on two weeks of learning and discovery, hoping to gain knowledge, make new friends, and create unforgettable memories.
