TAMCC Collaborates with Ministry of Agriculture to Assess Land Needs for Mirabeau Campus Development

The T. A. Marryshow Community College with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture & Lands conducted a reconnaissance mission of the Mirabeau Campus aimed at identifying lands for future campus expansion and the enhancement of the agricultural training programmes offered by the College.

The inspection, which involved detailed assessments of the current campus infrastructure, surrounding land availability, and potential areas for development, is part of a strategic initiative to bolster agricultural education and transform the campus into an Agriculture Center of Excellence. The collaborative effort seeks to ensure that the college’s facilities can accommodate growing student enrolment, introduce advanced agricultural technologies, and expand practical training opportunities.

“I must say this has been a very fruitful tour, an eye-opening tour, to see the extent of the property that TAMCC owns and also give us an idea of the development that will be done here at the Mirabeau campus”, said Mr. Andrew Abraham, Principal of TAMCC. “What we would like to do is to map the land including the current structures so our architects can be informed on how best to improve current facilities and place new structures such as hydroponics systems, aquaponics systems and traditional agricultural areas. This exercise is a very important one that is part of the overall development of the Mirabeau Campus.”

The team from the Ministry of Agriculture, was led by Mr. George Skerrit, Director of Lands who stated, “The next step is to do some office reconnaissance which involves sourcing plans, getting information on the adjoining owners, collating information then conducting a survey.”

The Mirabeau Campus is currently undergoing expansive renovations which include the restoration of the student dormitories and minor repairs of other buildings which is being financed by the Ministry of Education, and Ministry of Mobilisation, Implementation & Transformation. Additionally, the construction of two new pig pens and the refurbishment of an existing pen is currently underway with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture.

TAMCC extends appreciation to the Ministry of Agriculture for its continued support and remains committed to building a strong partnership that supports national development priorities and strengthens agricultural education and innovation across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite
Martinique.
