Applications are invited to fill the post of Dean of the School of Applied Arts and Technology. The holder of the post is directly responsible to the Deputy Principal of the College for the successful performance of their duties.
The successful candidate will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities:
1. Supervise all Faculty and Staff of the School;
2. Prepare academic reports for submission to Management and the Academic Board;
3. Prepare time tables and assign teaching duties;
4. Supervise the activities of departments operation including program planning and development;
5. Examine reports from departments with a view to implementing changes (after consultation with Management) and providing solutions to problems;
6. Conduct annual performance appraisals of individual Faculty and Staff members of the School;
7. Conduct School staff meetings;
8. Liaise with other departments, Schools and Divisions to promote cohesion within the College;
9. Interact with external agencies and social partners in the determination of specific benefits to the Institution, and to assist with the promotions of the Institution’s mission;
10. Attend regular meetings with the Principal and Senior Managers to inform them of the development within the School;
11. Ensure the enforcement of the College’s rules and regulations at the School level;
12. Ensure that the office buildings and classrooms of the School are properly resourced, and that the College’s equipment and materials are used and secured in accordance with institutional policies;
13. Prepare annual budgets for the School;
14. Prepare annual reports on the School for submission to the Administration;
15. Ensure that the College’s mandate for the School is carried out;
16. Provide instruction in courses of specific disciplines; and
17. Deal with all matters pertinent to the day-to-day administration of the School including:
Academic direction to students
Ensuring examinations are set, marked and grades submitted promptly
Reviewing courses from time to time
Responding to public inquires
Preparing written forms of communication (letters, reports, memoranda, internal circular etc.)
Assisting with recruitment and induction of Faculty and Staff (full-time and adjunct)
Supervising the administration of evening programs.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• At least a Master’s degree in Education

• Familiarity with, or knowledge of, the operations of an academic institution.
• The highest degree of personal integrity
• The ability to inspire confidence among internal and external constituencies of the College.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Ability to work in a collaborative manner with all stakeholders, including students, faculty and the Ministry of Education.
Remuneration
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
