Academic Regulations
• The College Year consists of two 16-week semesters and a seven (7) week summer session, including final examinations.
• Credits earned at TAMCC are based on semester hours. 1 credit is awarded for every 15 hours of lecture or its equivalent, upon the successful completion of the course.
(Therefore, 3 credits = 45 hours of lecture or its equivalent)
• A full time student may register for 12 to 18 credits during a 16-week semester, and up to 9 credits in the Summer term. A student with a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or above may, with the permission of the Dean be allowed to take one additional course as an overload. A student on academic probation, will not be allowed to carry more than 12 credits during the regular semester, and 4 credits during the Summer session
Grading System
Grades “A”, “B” & “C” are Excellent, Good and Satisfactory grades respectively. A grade “D” is the minimum acceptable College grade. A grade “F” is NOT acceptable for fulfillment of course requirements.
Grade Point Average
The Grade Point Average is calculated by dividing the Total Quality Points (TQP) by the Total Credits Attempted (TCA). The Total Quality Points for each course is calculated by multiplying the “Points per Credit” (determined by your grade) by the “Credit Value” of the course.
