The Art Department at TAMCC has enjoyed another successful year in 2007.
Students who took the Cambridge International Advanced Level in Art and Design achieved a 100% pass rate for the fourth consecutive year.
The course is very demanding. The qualification is divided into 3 parts; coursework that demonstrates good academic ability, individuality and creativity, a 15 hour exam with 4 weeks to make visual preparatory studies and a written study of 3500 words.
In addition to their studies, students took part in a two day sculpture project with underwater sculpture artist Jason Taylor (underwatersculpture.com). Students cast each other faces with plaster and then filled the cast with cement. The final pieces were then installed at Jason’s underwater sculpture park in Moulinere and are now a permanent fixture for snorkellors and divers to see.
First year students completed a mural (wall painting) that celebrates T.A.Marryshow, the mural can be seen in the college grounds in the teacher education block.
The following courses in Art are now being offered by the Art Department.
